New Diesel Smartwatch Lands At JB Hi-Fi From $549

Known for their large clock faces and chunky designs, men’s fashion brand Diesel has released its new Full Guard 2.5 smartwatch in Australia, stocked at retailers such as JB Hi-Fi from $549.

The news comes as more fashion designers embrace smartwatch technology, with iterations from Michael Kors and Armani taking on the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch and the Apple Watch.

First unveiled at IFA 2018, the touch-screen watch is powered by Wear OS by Google, and offers real time notifications straight to the wrist.

Diesel’s Full Guard 2.5 is available in either a brown leather or black silicone band ($549), plus a more expensive stainless steel band ($599).

In addition to heart rate tracking and Google Pay capabilities, users can also control music from their wrist. (Watch more below)

Despite its digital capabilities, Diesel’s new Full Guard 2.5 remains consistent with the company’s legacy of chunky watches, featuring a 1.39″ display, plus 11mm thick 46mm x 46mm case.

Unique dial effects seek to add extra personality, with visual effects creating the appearance of a cracked screen when a private notification is received.

Despite it chunky style, Diesel asserts materials such as anodized aluminum seek to make the device lighter, without sacrificing durability.

The watch harnesses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 2100 processor, and boasts NFC with Google Pay support. Other features include a heart rate sensor, untethered GPS, rapid charging, and up to 30m swimproof capabilities.
