NBN Co & Macquarie Telecom Ink $100M Wholesale Supply Deal

Macquarie Telecom has inked a $100 million wholesale supply deal with the NBN Co, in a bid to increase the sale of NBN-related telecom and data services to local businesses, and lift NBN revenue.

The six-year wholesale deal will see Macquarie telecom offer its portfolio of services to Australian NBN business customers.

Macquarie telecom customers will also benefit from a local NBN service delivery and support team for the deal’s duration.

The landmark deal extends the NBN Co’s push to work with business-minded telcos, and offer high-speed internet services to the commercial and enterprise market.

As previously reported, the NBN Co affirms expansion into the enterprise market is critical for achieving its average revenue per user (ARPU) goal of $52.

For the last year, ARPU has reportedly been around $43.

Reflecting performance demand, the NBN Co generally charges a higher price from telcos to service enterprise customers.

Maquarie telecom is known for a notable presence in the public enterprise market, with a 29% increase in net profit [after tax] for the six months to December 2017. Revenue for the period jumped 8% to $114.9 million.
