Kaspersky Teams With Swinburne University Of Tech

In a surprise move Kaspersky Lab has signed a MoU with Melbourne’s Swinburne University of Technology to enhance cyber security education in its curriculum.

Kaspersky says the agreement will enable Swinburne to benefit from its train-the-trainer program which promotes regular exchange of information such as industry insights and best practices.

Kaspersky’s A/NZ GM Margrith Appleby said the current skills shortage is the result of a lack of defined career paths, and the agreement should provide training and educational content for a new future of cyber security experts in Australia.

Stephan Neumeier, MD of Kaspersky Lab, A/Pac, said the company will open a Sydney office in 2019 in addition to its main Australian office in Melbourne.

“This partnership will enable our staff to remain at the cutting-edge of cybersecurity technology in Australia and the world,” says Professor Hung Nguyen AM, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Swinburne’s Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology.
