Narwal has expanded its range of smart cleaning appliances with the launch of the Freo 20, a new robot vacuum and mop that introduces the company’s FlowWash Mopping System and an upgraded docking station designed to reduce ongoing maintenance.

The Freo 20 combines vacuuming and mopping functions, with its new roller-style mop automatically deploying when the onboard cameras detect hard floor surfaces that require washing. Unlike conventional spinning mop designs, the roller applies 12N of downward pressure while rotating against the direction of travel to deliver a more intensive scrubbing action.

To help maintain cleaning performance, the mop is continuously refreshed throughout each cleaning cycle. Warm water heated to around 60 degrees Celsius is sprayed across the roller through 16 precision nozzles, while a built-in scraper and high-pressure extraction system remove dirty water into a separate waste tank. The system is designed to prevent grime from being spread across floors as the robot moves around the home.

Navigation is handled by Narwal’s NarMind Pro Autonomous System, which uses artificial intelligence to identify and avoid more than 300 common household objects. The company says its TwinAI Dodge technology delivers obstacle recognition accuracy of up to 99 per cent, allowing the robot to move around furniture, cables and everyday items with minimal interruption.

The Freo 20 also includes specialised cleaning modes for households with pets and young children. Pet Care Mode adjusts cleaning behaviour around pet bowls, beds and other animal-related areas while also supporting remote video monitoring. Baby Care Mode identifies items such as cots and toys, automatically reducing operating noise when cleaning nearby.

The redesigned docking station provides automatic maintenance functions, helping to keep the robot ready for its next cleaning session while reducing the amount of manual intervention required.

The Narwal Freo 20 will go on sale in the United States from 20 August through the company’s online store and Amazon. It carries a recommended retail price of approximately A$1,690, with an introductory launch offer reducing the price to around A$1,385 for a limited period.

Narwal has not yet announced Australian pricing or local availability for the Freo 20. However, given the company’s growing presence in Australia through previous Freo robot vacuum releases, a local launch is likely to be announced at a later date.
