MSI To Introduce Mini LED Display Creator Notebook At CES 2020
MSI has given a sneak tease of their new products for CES 2020 with the PC Company expanding on their Creator machine range with the Company set to also introduce new display technology in a PC.
At this stage the Company is not revealing a lot of information just enough to tease you.
A new Creator 17 notebook that can meet the DisplayHDR 1000 tier of VESA’s DisplayHDR spec is just one of their new products.
A new mini-LED display features 4K resolution and support for 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut as well as the Display P3 colour space.
Mini-LED which is one step behind the radical Micro LED is a definite step up from the current LED implementation, as tinier LEDs can be crammed into the display backlighting to improve viewing brightness and contrast.
MSI is the first to introduce this technology to a notebook.
“Mini LED is a game-changing technology that has the potential to be used on all electronic displays. It has a simpler structure with better performance, combining all the strengths of other display technologies.
Until now, Mini LED has only been used in some TVs, but with leading global display manufacturers shifting production focus to Mini LED, its estimated market value has reached a staggering $1 billion USD, and it’s expected to be adopted by a variety of industries within the next few years, from laptops to smartphones,” MSI says.
The Company that is witnessing sales growth at JB Hi Fi claims that the display will feature a brightness of 1,000 nits, far superior to even the brightest consumer laptops.
It will also provide 240 zones of local dimming, which allows for better contrast with whiter white and darker black levels.
In terms of other specs, MSI won’t divulge many details, saying instead that it will offer “the latest in CPU and GPU processing power.”
What we do know is that the new offering will include a USB Type-C port that’s capable of outputting 8K video to an external display, along with a Thunderbolt port powerful enough to handle mobile charging duties.
It also comes with what MSI says is the world’s fastest UHS-III SD card reader.
We will bring you more on this product as CES 2020 gets into full swing.
