Oceanic Distribution has been appointed the exclusive distributor for M&K Sound.

The loudspeaker brand whose innovations have helped define modern home theatre and professional studio monitoring, will now be available to Australia’s specialist AV retailers and custom integrators through Oceanic’s national dealer network.

The new distribution agreement comes after Melbourne based distributor Indi Group walked away from its distribution arrangement with M&K Sound back in March 2026, ending an eight-year partnership with the company.

The US based M&K Sound is an iconic company that has helped define home theatre since 1974. Its loudspeakers have been a trusted name in professional film mixing stages and by enthusiasts seeking the same accuracy and impact used in Hollywood productions.

The company pioneered technologies that remain industry standards. For example, it pioneered the world’s first satellite/subwoofer system and the world’s first powered subwoofer.

Founder of Oceanic Distribution, James Hicks, said M&K Sound is one of those rare brands that has genuinely shaped how we listen in studios and in the home.

M&K Sound’s products have previously been distributed through key retailers including Brisbane Hi Fi, West Coast Hi Fi and Rio Sound & Vision.

Oceanic Distribution has big shoes to fill. Indi Group is credited with transforming the brand’s standing in Australia through aggressive marketing, retailer training and repositioning M&K Sound firmly into the premium home audio segment.

Operating out of Caringbah in Sydney’s south Oceanic Distribution supplies a curated range of custom-integration AV products, from home cinema loudspeakers, subwoofers and amplification through to projectors, acoustics, seating, and multi-room audio, via a national network of dedicated specialist stores and installers.

As part of their complete cinema solutions range, M&K Sound is expected to benefit from Oceanic’s design support, fulfillment and in house service.
