Romanian brand Meze Audio is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its 99 Classics headphones with a modern refresh.

The 99 Classics 2nd Generation combine the brand’s signature craftsmanship with upgraded acoustics, connectivity and sustainability.

First released in 2015, the original 99 Classics quickly gained cult status for their warm, natural sound and handcrafted wooden design.

A decade later, the new model retains the same aesthetic while introducing ten key refinements that enhance both performance and comfort.

Meze has fine-tuned the drivers for a more balanced, neutral sound signature while keeping the rich bass that defined the original.

The drivers are now better matched for improved stereo imaging. The ear cups have been slightly enlarged for tighter low-end control and a more spacious fit.

A re-engineered baffle and improved acoustic seal deliver more consistent tuning and clarity across frequencies.

Practical upgrades include a wider 7 mm input socket compatible with a broader range of cables and a tougher, Kevlar-reinforced 1.8 m detachable cable.

Meze now bundles a compact USB-C DAC/AMP dongle, allowing users to plug directly into modern smartphones and laptops that lack headphone jacks.

Visually, the 99 Classics remain unmistakably Meze, with solid walnut wood ear cups, gold zinc alloy hardware and a self-adjusting vegan leather headband supported by spring steel.

Every component, including the drivers, cups and cables, is fully replaceable to extend product life.

Even the packaging has gone eco-friendly, shifting to recyclable materials as part of Meze’s ongoing sustainability push.
