McIntosh Adds Spotify Lossless Audio Support
Legendary hi-fi brand McIntosh Laboratory has joined the Spotify Lossless revolution, rolling out support for the new CD-quality streaming format across three of its flagship products.
McIntosh’s signature blue meters and American handcrafted design now come with a new digital edge across the DS200 Streaming DAC, MSA5500 Streaming Integrated Amplifier and MX123 A/V Processor.
Spotify’s long-awaited Lossless tier, streaming in 24-bit/44.1kHz FLAC, marks the platform’s first real step into high-fidelity territory after years of compressed audio dominance.
For McIntosh users, the update means Spotify Premium subscribers can finally stream directly through Spotify Connect at full CD quality.
The move aligns McIntosh with other early adopters such as HEOS, Cambridge Audio and Bose.

For owners, integration is straightforward.
The DS200 and MSA5500 support Spotify Lossless out of the box, while the MX123 requires a quick firmware update via the settings menu.
Spotify Premium subscribers can access Lossless playback by updating the app and heading to Settings.
While Spotify’s lossless feature isn’t quite high-resolution – falling short of the 24-bit/192kHz streams from TIDAL, Apple Music or Qobuz – it’s still a major quality upgrade.
With the addition of Spotify Lossless, McIntosh’s streaming suite now spans Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect.
