EXCLUSIVE: LG Marketing Director Quits To Take Up New Role At Electrolux

Skropidis, who was previously marketing director at Samsung Electronics, will not take up his new role for two months. 

The shock move has resulted in both Samsung and LG now looking for replacement marketing directors after Aron Lenior quit Samsung Australia last month.

In his new role Skropidis will be responsible for brands such as AEG, Electrolux, Westinghouse and the recently acquired Beefeater barbecues.

During his three years at LG he has seen the Companies market share in the TV. Appliances, smartphone and PC business grow. LG has also grown share in the air conditioning category.

Earlier this year a $3M investment in the 2015 Cricket World Cup by LG Australia paid off with the Korean Company growing share across several categories. 

The appointment of Skropidis comes only days after Electrolux veteran Mike Putt was promoted to managing director of Electrolux Home Products, Australia/New Zealand.

According to Electrolux insiders a key focus for the Company this year is the Westinghouse brand. 

Putt has been with the company since 1981, in his new role, Putt will be responsible for the business of Electrolux in one of the company’s core markets and report to Kenneth L. Ng, President and CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances, Asia Pacific.

Last year Electrolux AB agreed to pay $3.3 billion to acquire General Electric’s appliances business, a move that would put the Swedish group head-to-head with Whirlpool. at the top of the U.S. market for white goods.

The deal is the largest ever by Electrolux and comes amid consolidation among makers of stoves, dishwashers and washing machines. 
According to Electrolux management the GE will be launched in Australia.

Skropidis said “I am currently on leave from LG and I will take up my new role in two months”.
