Marantz Replaces Hi-Fi Classics With New MODEL 70 Amp And CD 70 Player
Harman-owned Marantz has unveiled a new entry-level integrated amplifier and CD player, replacing two of the brand’s most successful hi-fi components after almost six years on the market.
The MODEL 70 Integrated Amplifier and CD 70 CD Player build on the PM6007 and CD6007, introducing updated internal components, modern connectivity and the design language used across Marantz’s more expensive MODEL Series.
At the centre of the MODEL 70 is an upgraded Class A/B amplification system delivering 50 watts per channel, compared with 45 watts from the outgoing PM6007.
Marantz has added a larger toroidal transformer, enhanced power supply and revised preamplifier circuitry, which it claims will improve dynamics, speaker control and overall authority.

The amplifier includes a high-performance digital-to-analogue converter, Marantz’s proprietary HDAM circuitry and an MM phono stage for connecting a turntable.
HDMI ARC has also been added, allowing the amplifier to handle television audio while supporting volume control through a compatible TV remote.
Bluetooth can operate in both receiving and transmitting modes, with support for aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, AAC and SBC. That means users can stream music from a phone or send audio from the amplifier to wireless headphones.

The matching CD 70 uses the same DAC and HDAM technology, alongside a front-mounted USB-A connection supporting high-resolution formats including FLAC, ALAC, AIFF and DSD.
It also features a discrete headphone amplifier with adjustable gain, an upgraded power supply, double-layer chassis base, rigid isolation feet and copper components designed to reduce interference.
Both components adopt a full-width design and will be offered in black and silver-gold finishes.
Indicative Australian pricing has been reported at around A$1,600 for the MODEL 70 and A$1,100 for the CD 70, although final local pricing and retailer availability have not been confirmed.
The CD 70 is scheduled to become available from August 15. Marantz has not confirmed whether the MODEL 70 will arrive in Australia at the same time.
