Apple suppliers are planning to produce Apple Watch and MacBook in Vietnam for the first time, as more manufacturing is moving away from China.

Chinese supplier Luxshare Precision and Taiwanese giant Foxconn have started test production of the Apple Watch in Vietnam, according to Nikkei Asia, while Apple has asked suppliers to set up a similar test line in Vietnam for the MacBook.

This follows a larger trend of moving manufacturing away from China, where production hubs have suffered pandemic-related lockdowns of late.

Apple is already assembling iPad tablets and manufacturing iPhone 13 units in India, following a move out of China earlier this year.

The Ukraine war has further disrupted production and supply chains, making it more important for major tech companies like Apple to reduce its reliance on China.
