FetchTV Hits 100K Subscribers
The IPTV service, available on iiNet and Optus platforms, has hit the 100,000 subscriber milestone.
Today FetchTV, which offers free-to-air channels and movies via the internet, launched a new app with “watch anywhere” capabilities, so you can watch TV remotely on your phone or tablet.
“We have seen the subscriber base double in the past year, and expect to double again inside of that time frame,” Scott Lorson, CEO of FetchTV told CN.
The strong growth in 2013 is attributed to the content company’s Optus and iiNet partnerships.
“A defining characteristic of the Fetch TV business is the strength of partnership that exists with Optus and the iiNet Group, Internode, Westnet, TransACT, and Adam Internet,” said Lorsen.
Fetch TV is now “the clear number two Pay TV provider in Australia” after Foxtel it said in a statement, with plans to accelerate numbers further in 2014 with a mass marketing campaign.
The new Fetch TV App for iOS and Android, launched today, offers “watch anywhere” access to free-to-air channels, paid entertainment channels plus Movie Box, over WiFi and 3G/4G.
Users can set recordings from anywhere, and the app doubles as an in-home remote control. The average Fetch TV household records over 100 TV shows per month.
Fetch TV will launch four additional channels on 1 January, to be announced later this week or early next, CN has been told.
“We enter the new year in a strong position, with clear growth momentum, committed partners, an enthusiastic and engaged subscriber base, and one hell of a product.”
