LG, Samsung Resume OLED Partnership Talks
LG Display and Samsung Electronics have reportedly resumed talks that would see LG’s WOLED panels used in Samsung’s next generation of smart televisions.
The pair had been discussing the possibility previously, but LG Display’s chief financial officer confirms those talks had “come to a halt” in mid-2022.
Tech publication The Elec reports that the talks are back on

-“The resumption of the pair’s talk has much to do with the changes in the worldwide display sector,” a source told the Korean newspaper.
“Samsung Electronics is now more reliant on Chinese display panel makers that are dominating the LCD sector. Chinese panel makers have since then become less favorable towards Samsung, sources said.”
Samsung stopped production of LCD panels last year, and appears to be moving towards OLED. The company currently has three OLED televisions — S95B, S90C and S95C — with the rest LCD.
