LG Display Halts LCD Panel Production
LG Display is planning to halt LCD panel production at one of its major factories, as it continues to wind down manufacturing of the panels.
The P7 factory at the company’s facility in Paju in South Korea will stop production this month, according to TheElec. The factory made television panels ranging from 43-inch to 50-inch.
LG Display will continue to manufacture LCD panels for televisions at its facility in Guangzhou, China, but will drop production by 40 per cent, from 210,000 panels a month to 120,000.
According to TheElec, LG Display will only manufacture what it had contracted to do so in long-term contracts with customers, then halt production.
Samsung Display stopped LCD production during the first half of the year.
