Lenovo has relied on its non-PC business to steer a modest six per cent profit for the September quarter, as computer sales continue to slump.

The company’s overall revenue dropped 4 per cent year-on-year, to A$27 billion, while net profit rose 6 per cent to A$860 million.

Server sales and business solutions drove the company’s profits during the quarter.

Revenue jumped 33 per cent for the infrastructure solutions division, which included server sales. The solutions and services group (including education) saw a 26 per cent revenue rise.

“Our non-PC businesses are gaining momentum and now represent more than 37% of our revenue,” Lenovo Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing said.

Lenovo, like many of its rivals, has had to rely upon building up other areas of its business, as PC sales have declined for five consecutive quarters – the inevitable fall off from the pandemic boom.
