Kanto Audio has launched its second-generation OBI3 turntable in Australia, combining traditional manual controls with Bluetooth connectivity and a built-in phono preamp.

Distributed locally by iWorld Australia, the belt-drive turntable is priced at A$349.95.

The OBI3G2 introduces a platter-mounted sensor that measures its actual rotation and continuously adjusts the motor to maintain a consistent playback speed.

Electronic speed selection allows listeners to switch between 33⅓ and 45 RPM without manually repositioning the belt, while an auto-stop function halts the platter when it reaches the end of a record.

Kanto has also added ±10 per cent pitch control, allowing users to adjust playback speed. Its aluminium J-shaped tonearm includes an adjustable counterweight and anti-skate control for setting tracking force and reducing skipping.

The second-generation model has a heavier engineered-wood plinth and weighted aluminium platter designed to reduce resonance and external vibration.

An Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge comes pre-installed, allowing buyers to begin playing records without purchasing or fitting a separate cartridge.

The selectable integrated phono preamp and RCA output allow the turntable to connect directly to powered speakers or work with a traditional amplifier and passive speaker system.

Bluetooth 5.3 also enables wireless playback through compatible speakers or headphones, broadening its appeal to consumers who want vinyl without a complete wired hi-fi system.

The OBI3G2 measures 43.2cm by 36.3cm, weighs 5.5kg and includes a dust cover, slip mat, 45 RPM adapter, counterweight and RCA and ground cables.

The turntable is available in walnut, matte white, matte ice blue, matte green and matte black.
