Huawei To Sponsor Sydney Festival
The Huawei Ascend P6 ‘selfie’ smartphone will be used to develop a digital mosaic of “Festival Faces” throughout the event from 9-26 January 2014.
Huawei will be the exclusive provider of smartphones and tablets for the festival, and will supply MediaPad 10 Link 4G tablets to provide information about Festival activities at the Information Hubs in Hyde Park, Circular Quay and Martin Place.
Promoting the Ascend P6 smartphone at the new Festival Village site in Hyde Park, Huawei will be developing a digital mosaic of “Festival Faces” that will be displayed at Symphony in The Domain on 26 January.
The company will also provide a free public charging station for festival-goers to keep mobile batteries topped up, as well as demoing the Ascend P2 – the slimmest smartphone in Oz.
The Ascend P6 is good for ‘selfies’ – with its 5 megapixel front-facing camera and ‘beauty mode’ to automatically improve images.
The news comes as the Chinese owned company looks to rev up its business locally, after announcing a hike in revenues locally, this year.
“We are delighted to welcome Huawei as a technology partner of the Festival”, said Malcolm Moir, Sydney Festival’s Head of Development.
“Huawei is at the forefront of developing cutting edge technology and is a global leader.”
Huawei Devices Head of Marketing, Poh-Lee Koh, said, “We are privileged to bring to Sydney Festival its first-ever mosaic artwork made up entirely of selfies taken on the Ascend P6 at the Festival Village and from Huawei Device’s Facebook page”.
Sydney Festival 2014 runs from 9 to 26 January 2014.
