SINGAPORE: The IT channel is playing an increasingly important role in driving the growth of the cloud industry around the world, according to new figures from Singapore-based analyst company Canalys.
Total cloud services market spending in the three months ended December 31, 2020, was up 322 percent at US$39.9 billion, on largely heightened customer investment with major cloud service providers and the technology channel, Canalys says.
This was the largest quarterly expansion across the board, the analyst company added.
According to the researcher, Microsoft holds the largest share of the indirect channel with Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud increasingly gaining ground.
However it noted that Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud are increasingly gaining ground.
