Is Samsung Going To Fold Or Roll With Future Smartphone?

Will we ever see the Samsung Fold in Australia, or is the Korean tech giant waiting to ‘Roll’ out a brand-new design for a smartphone?

In the US the Countries biggest carriers AT&T has moved to cancel orders for the $3,000 device after it failed its first reviewers analysis with the device literally falling apart in journalists hands.

But this has not stopped the Korean tech giant from trying to push the barriers in Smartphone design after the Company released a new concept design for a smartphone that can roll-out vertically like a scroll and double the device’s screen size.

Dubbed the ‘Galaxy Roll’ the device has a rollable display.

Both Samsung and Best Buy have cancelled Galaxy Fold pre-orders, while Samsung also announced it would cancel pre-orders of the device after it was revealed that the device’s fragile’ display couldn’t withstand the pressure from the hinge as it was opened and closed.

It was also revealed that a 7mm gap between where the two display halves was a spot for dust, dirt and other damaging particles to get trapped underneath the display.

AT&T did tell customers that ‘Once Samsung announces the new release date, you can visit att.com to place your order again.’

While Samsung is working on a solution for the Fold, they have also dreamt up a new smartphone design that can roll-out vertically like a scroll and double the device’s screen size.

While the images show off a phone that appears fairly traditional at a first glance, a closer look reveals it’s actually hiding a secret rollable display inside.

The top of the device has a selfie camera and earpiece which seems able to extend outward from the phone.

This makes for a screen that folds out into a tablet screen like the Galaxy Fold.

The patent for this device was submitted in November 2018, months before the issues with the Samsung Galaxy Fold’s screen became apparent.
