The iPhone 14 series will have different grades of OLED panel material depending on the model, due to a cost-cutting exercise by display-maker Samsung.

Samsung Display will be providing OLED panels for all four variants in the iPhone 14 series.

According to TheElec, Samsung Display will use its M11 material set for the standard 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models, while the two top-tier models will use Samsung Display’s M12 material set.

Samsung will use the M12 materials for its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4. The M11 materials were used for Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra and Plus models.

Samsung Display will supply Apple with 80 million OLED displays for the iPhone 14. Mass production and delivery will occur in the third quarter of the year.
