IFA 2025: Bose Unveils 2nd-Gen QuietComfort Ultra Headphones with Lossless USB-C and Cinema Mode
Bose has launched the second-generation QuietComfort Ultra Headphones at IFA Berlin, bringing big upgrades to its flagship noise-cancelling line while keeping its familiar design.
At first glance, the QC Ultra 2nd Gen looks much like its predecessor, with synthetic leather cushions and a lightweight frame, now updated with a sleeker metal finish on the hinges that connect the earcups to the headband.
But the big changes are under the hood.
The new model introduces lossless USB-C audio, delivering clearer, uncompressed sound and reduced latency – a boost for both audiophiles and gamers. Wired enthusiasts are also covered, with both 2.5mm and 3.5mm cables included in the box.
Noise cancellation has been sharpened with a new adaptive algorithm that reacts more smoothly to sudden interruptions like sirens or passing trains.
Aware Mode has also been refined for more natural transparency, while users can now dial ANC down or switch it off entirely via the Bose Music app.

Available in Black and White, the lineup also introduces two limited-edition finishes Driftwood Sand and Midnight Violet.
Bose has also introduced Cinema Mode, a fresh spatial audio profile designed for movies and streaming.
The mode expands the soundstage, pushes dialogue forward, and adds subtle spatial effects, aiming to replicate a theatre-like experience. Bose says the profile also enhances podcasts and audiobooks.
Battery life has been extended to 30 hours with ANC on (23 with immersive audio, 45 with ANC off), while a 15-minute quick charge nets three hours of listening.

On the wireless side, the QC Ultra 2nd Gen supports Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint connectivity, letting users stay linked to two devices at once.
Codec support includes AAC, SBC and aptX Adaptive for Snapdragon Sound-certified devices, along with Google Fast Pair and Spotify Tap integration for quick playback.
The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) are priced at A$699 and will be available globally from September 10.
With strong competition from Sony’s WH-1000XM6 and Bowers & Wilkins’ Px7 S3, Bose is banking on sleeker design, improved ANC and Cinema Mode to keep the QuietComfort Ultra at the top of the premium headphone market.
