Forget “Tanking” Windows 8 – 9 Is Coming

Forget "Tanking" Windows 8 - 9 Is Coming And not a moment too soon. If sources of Microsoft blogger Paul Thurrott are correct, the next Windows installment, code named ‘Threshold”, is likely to be called Windows 9 – will arrive April 2015.

W9 will fix the “Metro” design used by Windows 8, which is a top priority for Microsoft, as is restarting the ‘Start’ menu, he says.
The Microsoft blogger believes Redmond will unveil its “vision” for W9 at BUILD 2014, due to take place this April.
But why soon after Windows 8 and 8.1, the touch-based OS that was said to bring Microsoft’s platform into the mobile age?
“Windows 8 is tanking harder than Microsoft is comfortable discussing in public,” says Thurrott, and Windows 8.1, released in October last, too, is failing to charm computer users “in use on less than 25 million PCs at the moment,” he writes on his blog.
The tile based Windows 8 is said to be on just 10% of PC’s, globally, according to figures from Statista.

This is despite 8.1 fixing many of the ailments associated with 8.
‘Threshold’ isn’t yet a reality, in fact, Microsoft will only commence working on it this month so details are sketchy.
But the blogger believes W9 “needs to be everything that Windows 8 is not.”
“It’s not clear what changes are coming, but it’s safe to assume that a windowed mode that works on the desktop is part of that. “
Microsoft is also said to be on the road to completing Windows Phone 8.1.
