Huawei Mate 10 Tipped To Debut Own Smart Voice Assistant

Huawei has revealed it’s building its own smart voice assistant, following a trademark application with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) and the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office).

It’s likely to assume the new smart voice assistant will debut on the upcoming Mate 10, following Huawei’s recent marketing efforts, heralding the device as the “real AI [artifical intelligence] phone“.

LetsGoDigital first noticed the application for Huawei’s smart voice assistant, which includes a logo comprising two interconnected ‘U’ characters.

The trademark is filed under the category: “software and mobile applications for managing smart home devices”.

Earlier this year, reports emerged that Huawei deployed 100 employees to develop its own smart voice assistant. Whilst initial speculation was that the voice assistant would only roll out to the Chinese market, the trademark filing in USA & Europe suggests Huawei intends to extend its voice assistant outside of Asia.

Huawei is scheduled to unveil its range of Mate 10 smartphones in less than a fortnight’s time, encompassing its new AI-equipped processing chip the ‘Kirin  970‘.
