Huawei Develops 2025 Vision

Huawei has got into the forecasting game, releasing a “Global Industry Vision” (GIV) white paper identifying 10 trends it sees as having significant impacts in 2025.

The white paper looks at how the fusion of emerging technologies will propel productivity and opportunities to new levels in 17 industries, including transport, retail, finance, manufacturing and aerospace.

Andrew Williamson, Huawei’s VP of marketing insights, who presented the forecasts at Huawei’s Innovation Day in Chengdu last week, said Huawei intends to update its predictions as an annual exercise. Current predictions include:

Living with Bots: The adoption rate of intelligent domestic robots will reach as much as 14 percent.

Super Sight: The percentage of companies using AR/VR will increase to 10 percent.

Augmented Creativity: 97 percent of large companies will be using AI in their services or operations.

Frictionless Communication: Enterprises will be making efficient use of 86 percent of the data that they produce.

Tailored Streets: Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology will be installed in 15 percent of the world’s vehicles; and

Working with Bots: Industrial robots will work side by side with people in manufacturing, with 103 robots for every 10,000 employees.
