HomePod To Gain Voice Call Support Soon

Whilst still comparatively behind Amazon’s Echo and Google Home, recent reports reveal Apple’s HomePod smart speaker will debut several new features later this year, including voice calling.

According to French tech site iGenerationthe HomePod is set to gain many “missing” features following the iOS 12 update in American fall.

A beta version of HomePod iOS 12 has reportedly been distributed among Apple testers, with new features claimed to include; ask to make calls, set multiple timers, ‘Find my iPhone’, listen to phone voicemail, change HomePod Wi-Fi connection and heightened nutritional information for Siri.

Despite rumoured enhancements, Apple’s entry to the highly competitive smart speaker market has left its significantly behind Google and Amazon.

The HomePod has received mixed reviews, with many commending excellent sound quality, yet comparatively minimal voice assistant support.
