HMD Global’s First Rugged Nokia To Hit Oz Shelves On Oct 10

HMD Global has announced its new Nokia 800 Tough phone – the company’s first crack at a rugged, durable device – which is set to hit Australian shelves from Thursday, October 10.

It comes in Black Steel and will be available for $199 at JB Hi-Fi (online) and Harvey Norman (in-store and online).

The new Nokia 800 Tough promises to bring a new level of durability to users – with the device being water and dust proof and has been designed to withstand drops and extreme temperatures.

The 800 Tough is also military-grade (MIL-STD-810G) compliant, which means it is built and tested to meet military standards and to survive extreme temperatures as low as -20C or as high as 55C.

With the added anti-slip coating and rubberised edges, Nokia 800 Tough will fit securely in a user’s hand and is built to withstand daily drops, including onto concrete from a height of 1.8m-square.

“Given our heritage of durability, we’re very excited to announce our first ever rugged Nokia phone,” said Juho Sarvikas, chief product officer, HMD Global.

“We know how important it is for our fans to have a reliable phone, especially when working in more demanding environments or going on trips to explore the world.”

“And of course, we didn’t want to give our fans just a durable device, so we’ve made sure Nokia 800 Tough is built with today’s needs in mind.”

The Nokia 800 Tough comes with all the modern features and AI assistance users expect from today’s devices.

The new device’s built-in camera and flash lets users take pictures on-the-go, while the bright dedicated flashlight on the top of the phone lets users light up the way in dark environments.

It also comes with big accessible buttons for easier navigation of menus and make answering calls easier for users.
