Hettich has recalled S-Mitter handheld remote controls for cabinet and kitchen LED lighting systems after the product failed to comply with mandatory button/coin battery safety standards, posing choking and severe injury risks to children.

Product numbers include 3110701, 3111701, 3112501, and 3116301.

The remote controls were sold from June 1, 2022, to September 30, 2025, nationally and online through Dana Kitchens, Modular Kitchens, Cabware Trading, and Inavogue.

The products were manufactured in China.

The remote doesn’t comply with the mandatory standard for products containing button/coin batteries.

The battery isn’t secured, and children could access it.

The remote is missing warning information about the dangers of button/coin batteries to children and what to do when someone suspects a person has swallowed or placed a button/coin battery inside their body.

Children are at risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries, or death if they swallow or place button/coin batteries inside their bodies.

Serious injury can occur in as little as two hours, and results can be fatal.

In Australia, children have suffered serious injuries or died from swallowing button/coin batteries.

If you suspect a child has swallowed or inserted a button/coin battery, call Triple Zero (000) if the child is having any difficulty breathing.

Otherwise, call the Poisons Information Centre immediately on 13 11 26, available 24 hours a day, for directions to an appropriate medical facility.

Early action can save lives, and you should not wait for symptoms to develop.

Consumers should stop using the remote immediately and place it out of reach of children, then return the remote to Hettich or the place of purchase for a free replacement with a compliant remote.

The recall was published on November 21, 2025.
