Action-camera maker GoPro says its Q3 revenue was boosted by demand for its new Hero camera line – but overall revenue still fell about 54 percent and its net loss widened to US$74.8 million from $27.1 million a year earlier.

GoPro is trying to lure action junkies back through its Hero products, as it seeks to differentiate its premium-priced offerings from smartphones with improved cameras.

It launched two new cameras last month, including a ramped-up version of its Hero line.

Analysts said the Q3 results indicated the Hero8 Black and the Max model appear to be hits with consumers and the company is optimistic about their impact on business going forward.
