Hackers Demand Big Money For Aussie Bank Account Info

International hackers are demanding big money for stolen information on Australian credit and debit cards and bank accounts, according to security vendor Dell Secureworks.

Credentials for Australian ANZ bank accounts with balances of A$23,827, $29,029 and $89,156 have been on offer for US$2250, $3800 and $4750 respectively, Secureworks reports. In comparison, American bank accounts with balances between US$1000 and US$15,000 can be bought for US$40 to $500, Secureworks said.

The cost of stolen MasterCard and Visa cards with magnetic-strip data have been going for US$25, up from $19-$20 last year.
