Google is preparing to reveal its latest Pixel hardware at this week’s Made by Google event, with new smartphones, a smartwatch and a possible item tracker expected to headline the showcase.

The company has already teased updated Pixel devices, but industry leaks suggest the launch will be one of Google’s biggest hardware announcements in recent years. Alongside refreshed phones, reports indicate Google could introduce a new Pixel Watch, an additional colour for its premium earbuds and its first Bluetooth tracking tag.

The spotlight is expected to fall on four new smartphones comprising the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. While the overall design is expected to remain familiar, the new models are tipped to feature updated camera styling and a programmable illuminated strip across the camera housing. The lighting system, reportedly called HiLight, is expected to provide customisable visual alerts for incoming calls, notifications and Gemini AI interactions.

Internally, the Pixel 11 family is widely expected to debut Google’s next-generation Tensor G6 processor. Manufactured using an advanced 2-nanometre process, the chip is expected to deliver improvements in both performance and energy efficiency. If confirmed, the Pixel 11 series would become the first smartphones to launch with a 2nm processor.

Storage capacity could also receive an upgrade, with reports suggesting entry-level Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro models will start at 256GB rather than 128GB. However, memory specifications may differ across the range, with some reports indicating the standard Pro model could include less RAM than its predecessor.

Pricing is also expected to increase. Google has already indicated that changing memory costs will result in higher prices across the Pixel family, although official Australian pricing will not be confirmed until the launch.

The Pixel Watch 5 is also tipped to make its debut, with leaks pointing to 41mm and 45mm versions. Storage is expected to double to 64GB, while battery life is tipped to remain largely unchanged. New software features are likely to centre on Gemini AI, including proactive assistance, contextual message replies and improved sleep tracking.

Google is also expected to expand its Pixel Buds Pro 2 range with a new olive-green colour option rather than introducing an entirely new generation of earbuds.

A completely new product could also be on the way. Reports suggest Google is preparing to launch the Pixel Tag, a Bluetooth tracker designed to compete with Apple’s AirTag. The accessory is expected to integrate with Google’s Find Hub network, allowing users to locate keys, bags and other personal items using Android devices.

While speculation has also surrounded potential Google laptops and smart glasses, those products are expected to be announced later this year rather than during this week’s event.

Google’s Made by Google presentation takes place on 12 August, where the company is expected to confirm Australian pricing, local availability and launch dates for the new Pixel hardware.
