Google Nest Hub’s OZ Release Set For Sept 10

The latest member of the Google Nest family, the Nest Hub Max, will be available at Australian retailers and on the Google Store from September 10.

Available in charcoal or white, the Nest Hub will go for $349 and can be picked up from JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Officeworks and the Google Store.

It features a large 10-inch touchscreen, a new 6.5MP front-facing camera, and premium stereo speakers for symphony-quality sound.

You can also enjoy new ways to interact with Google Assistant – and make video calls and leave video messages using Google Duo.

A 127-degree-wide FOV is incorporated, which is great for video calls, while an auto-framing feature allows for the camera to track a user around as they move during video calls to make sure they are always kept in view during the conversation.

To ensure privacy, a light on the top bezel and UI prompt will note when the camera is active, while the microphone mute switch also disables the lens.

There is also a software toggle when you slide up from anywhere on the screen to disable the camera.

The camera will also allow you to use Quick Gestures in order to control media, along with being able to use the Nest Hub Max to keep an eye on the home or pet as a makeshift Nest security camera.
