Google Nest Cams To Be Bright And Powerful
Details of Google’s upcoming Nest Cam and Doorbell are leaking ahead of their launch, which is rumoured to be occurring later this year.
The big news is that the next-gen devices will get 2K video recording, up from 1080p.
There will also be refreshed colour options. The wired indoor Cam will come in white, grey and a bold “berry” red. The Doorbell only offers white, beige and grey options.
The new Doorbell will also include AI-powered ‘Daily Summaries’ to provide quick recaps of the day’s (recorded) events.
Additional upgrades – preview snapshots, better live playback, thumbnail notifications, and 10-second skip controls in recorded videos – are also coming via the Google Home app.

Google’s doubling down on its Smart Home advantages
Google is also reportedly changing the name of its ‘Nest Aware’ subscription to ‘Google Home Premium’ and adding a new ‘Google Home Premium Advanced’ tier.
The changes appear to be part of Google’s broader effort to reinvigorate its smart home ecosystem with Gemini-powered features and better interoperability.
The clean, modern colour options and AI-driven summaries align with the company’s broader smart upgrade strategy across its Nest and Google Home lines.
