Global OLED TV Shipments To Hit 804,000 In Q4

Latest numbers from IHS Markit forecast global shipments of OLED TVs to notch 673,000 in Q3Y18 and 743,000 in Q3Y18. Shipments are expected to peak in Q4 at around 804,000.

OLED TV demand has continued to soar, climbing to 602,000 units in Q1Y18, versus 287,000 the year before.

According to Taiwanese trade publication¬†DigiTimes,¬†LG Display has commenced supply of OLED panels for Hisense’s new TVs. The products are set to launch in Australia later this year.

At current, Hisense holds a 15% market share in the above US$2,000 (A$2,677) global TV market.

The company is currently the largest TV vendor in its home country of China.

LG Display claims its supply of OLED panels for Hisense TVs will further spark component demand, and boost pricing over time.

The news follows Hisense’s OLED TV unveiling at CES 2018.

LG Display’s client base currently includes the likes of LG Electronics, Sharp, Changhong, Panasonic, Sony, Loewe, Philips and Toshiba.
