Garmin Release Military-Grade GPS Instinct SmartWatch

Garmin has launched their latest GPS-enabled shockproof military-standard smartwatch, built to withstand all the elements. Available now for $399.

Constructed specifically for the outdoors, the Instinct features a built-in 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter plus multiple global navigation satellite systems support including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo.

The Instinct is a durable and reliable tool built to military standards (MIL-STD 810G) to endure challenging environments, with thermal, shock and water resistance (rated to 100 metres).

It comes in a fibre reinforced polymer case with a chemically-strengthened and scratch resistant display that Garmin claim is easy to read in all conditions, especially direct sunlight.

Plus, its fully vented silicone bands include two removable keeper loops to ensure a secure fit, so there’s no chance of it slipping off.

The smartwatch features an impressive battery life with Garmin claiming up to 14 days in smartwatch mode, 16 hours in GPS mode or up to 40 hours in UltraTrac battery saver mode.

Like most smartwatches, the Instinct can be paired with your smartphone to receive notifications including texts, emails and other alerts all delivered right on the wrist.

There even built-in fitness software which can navigate your route so you won’t get lost, track workouts, sleep patterns, and even compete in virtual fitness challenges.

The Instinct is available in suitably elemental named designs – Graphite, Tundra and Flame Red – for a recommended retail price of $399.
