Garmin has launched its Forerunner 735XT GPS triathlon watch, equipped with 24/7 heart rate monitoring.
Sporting a sleek design, the Forerunner 735XT is Garmin’s most lightweight multisport watch, featuring a number of built-in activities, including running, cycling, swimming, multisport, hiking, XC skiing, strength training, paddle sports and cardio.
Connect IQ compatible, Garmin states it is the first device to come with the Strava Live Suffer Score app pre-installed, allowing users to track how hard they have been working based on heart rate data.
Decked out with Elevate wrist heart rate technology, the Forerunner 735XT offers heart rate monitoring without the need for an additional strap, while, for advanced running dynamics and other detailed measurements, users can add a chest strap and receive data, including stride length, ground contact time balance and vertical ratio.
The Forerunner 735XT is also compatible with the Vector pedal-based power metre system, along with the full line of Varia cycling awareness accessories. It has a water rating of 5ATM and can be used to guide users through their swim workout.
Transitioning sports can be carried out with the press of a button, utilising the auto or manual multisport feature.
The Forerunner 735XT automatically syncs with Garmin Connect – a free online fitness community where users can track workouts, sleep patterns and trends, join online challenges to compete against friends and earn virtual badges – when paired with a compatible smartphone, and users can also view Garmin Connect Insights, smart wellness insights personalised to each user.
The Forerunner 735XT, which has a battery life of up to 14 hours in training mode and 11 days in watch mode, additionally features live tracking, audio prompts, music control and social media sharing, and users can receive notifications from their compatible smartphone, including incoming calls, texts, emails, app, calendar and social media alerts.
“The Forerunner 735XT is the ultimate GPS smartwatch for athletes who want dialled-in data for training and race day,” Adam Howarth, Garmin Australasia general manager, commented.
“It offers comprehensive data for all of their activities, keeps them connected with smart features, including notifications and automatic uploads to Garmin Connect, and lets them customise their device to fit their needs with Connect IQ’s free apps, data fields and more.”
Available in black and grey, or midnight blue and frost blue, the Forerunner 735XT is priced at $699.00 RRP, with accessory bands to be available in lava red, charge yellow, midnight blue or frost blue for $49.00 RRP.
