Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Could Address Long-Standing Foldable Frustrations
Samsung’s next generation of foldable smartphones could focus on solving some of the practical issues that have limited wider adoption of the category.
Newly leaked details suggest the rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may feature a lighter design, a larger battery and a significantly less noticeable display crease. If accurate, the device would weigh around 201g, bringing it much closer to the weight of conventional flagship smartphones despite offering a large fold-out display.
The leak also points to a slimmer profile measuring approximately 4.5mm when unfolded, along with a 4,800mAh battery and support for 45W charging. Battery capacity has traditionally been one of the compromises associated with book-style foldables, making any increase a notable development.

Perhaps the most significant claim concerns the inner display. Sources suggest Samsung has made substantial progress in reducing the visibility of the crease that forms where the screen folds. While foldable displays have improved considerably in recent years, the crease remains one of the most obvious reminders that users are holding a folding device rather than a conventional smartphone.
Additional reported specifications include a 5.4-inch external display, a 7.8-inch internal screen and a new 50-megapixel camera system.
Samsung has not confirmed the device, but the reported upgrades suggest the company is focusing on refinement and everyday usability rather than headline-grabbing features alone.
