Fujifilm Reveals New GF Lenses

Two new lenses designed for Fujifilm’s G-Mount are set for release later this year, including a super wide-angle and a medium telephoto.

The FUJINON GF110mmF2 R LM WR and the FUJINON GF23mmF4 R LM WR incorporate dust and weather resistance for operation in a wide range of environments, including temperatures as low as -10°C.

According to Fujifilm, the FUJINON GF110mmF2 R LM WR (equivalent to 87mm on a 35mm camera) is “ideal for portraits” and is capable of delivering “beautiful bokeh” due to its F2.0 brightness, lens construction featuring 14 elements in nine groups, and nine rounded aperture blades for “rich expression of out of focus areas”.

Four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens elements ensure chromatic aberrations are limited, with the inner focusing AF system also helping to suppress aberration fluctuations causes by changes in shooting distance.

Meanwhile, the FUJINON GF23mmF4 R LM WR lens, as a super wide-angle lens, is better suited to shooting landscapes as well as architectural photography, and is constructed with 15 elements and 12 groups, allowing it to suppress distortion despite its super wide 99.9° angle of view.

The arrangement of one Super ED lens and three ED lenses within ensure chromatic aberration of magnification is “thoroughly suppressed”, and a Nano GI coating has been applied to reduce ghosting and flare.

The two lenses also feature what Fujifilm describes as “fast and quiet shooting” thanks to an inner focusing AF system driven by a linear motor.

Both lenses are compatible with Fujifilm’s medium format GFX 50S camera, which is set to receive new accessories, including a range of eyecups and the View Camera Adapter G for using older FUJINON large format lenses.

The new lenses and accessories will launch in June. FUJINON GF110mmF2 R LM WR lens priced at RRP $4,299 and the FUJINON GF23mmF4 R LM WR lens at RRP $3,999. Pricing information isn’t yet available for the new GFX accessory range.
