Foxtel Offer Free iQ4 Upgrade After Kayo Launch

Foxtel has reportedly implemented an ‘aggressive customer retention strategy’, offering subscribers a free iQ4 set-top box or movie pack upgrade, following the launch of sports streaming app ‘Kayo.’

As per an exclusive report by AFR, several Foxtel customers have received ‘thank you’ letters, inviting them to collect a free iQ4 set-top box [with installation] from participating Harvey Norman stores across Toowoomba, Warwick, Dalby and Kingaroy.

Users were instructed to call Foxtel or present the letter in-store on either Saturday March 9 or Sunday March 10.

Other subscribers reportedly received an email for a free 12-months no-contract movie package, featuring 10 channels including Premiere Movies, Comedy Movies and Disney Movies.

AFR claims Foxtel has been aggressively following up customers with phone calls, emails and letters.

Commentators claim it’s unique for Foxtel to offer free upgrades to existing customers who have not indicated their interest to cancel, or scale back services.

The news follows the launch of sports streaming app ‘Kayo’ in November 2018 – backed and invested by Foxtel.

As previously reported, the app generated 100,000 paid subscribers within its first month.

The customer retention strategy comes as Foxtel continues to face pressure to lift revenue and increase subscribers, following multi-million dollar sports rights and its 4K Channel 444.
