Focal Unveils Mu-so Hekla Dolby Atmos Soundbar
In the same week Bang & Olufsen launched the Beosound Premiere, French brand Focal has fired back back with all-in-one Dolby Atmos system designed for high-end home cinema and music streaming.
Named after Iceland’s Hekla volcano, the Mu-so Hekla is a one-metre-wide, 15.5kg black monolith housing 15 individually amplified drivers delivering up to 660 watts of Class D power.
Up-firing drivers enable Dolby Atmos spatial audio, creating a room-filling soundstage suitable for music, movies and gaming.
Front, side and top-facing drivers are paired with advanced electronics from Focal’s sister brand Naim, including the dual-core Sphere module for latency-free, high-fidelity playback.

The Hekla supports a wide range of wired and wireless connectivity, including HDMI eARC, optical Toslink, Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth 5.1 and streaming via Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz.
Users can personalise sound with Sphere Music and Sphere Movie modes or Focal’s ADAPT room calibration technology.
Control options include the Focal & Naim app, voice assistants, smartwatches or the signature tactile volume dial. External subwoofers are supported but not included.
Constructed from brushed and sandblasted aluminium, the Hekla combines minimalism with precision detailing, echoing Focal’s luxury hi-fi heritage.
Its industrial aesthetic is complemented by perforated grilles and heat-sink-style rear panels.

The Mu-so Hekla is priced at US$3,600, with Australian pricing yet to be confirmed.
It launches first in South Korea and China on November 6, with a global rollout expected in Q1 2026. It will be displayed at CES in Las Vegas and ISE in Barcelona.
Meanwhile, B&O’s Beosound Premiere, a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 system with 10 drivers and “Wide Stage Technology,” starts at US$5,800 (Australian pricing TBC).
Both products highlight the growing demand for premium, all-in-one spatial audio solutions that balance design, connectivity, and immersive sound.
