Home > Accessories > Leaked: Wireless Charging For Surface Pen

A new FCC filing hints at wireless charging capabilities for the next Surface Pen, which is expected to be officially announced at Microsoft’s October hardware event in New York City.

The filing makes mention of a “charging coil” component, which points to the possibility of an internal power source.

Current models of the stylus pen use replaceable AAAA batteries to function.

It is highly expected that the revision of the Surface Pen, along with the new Surface Pro 7, will be unveiled at the October event.

According to several reports and rumours, the new Surface Pro 7 will come with new features such as a redesigned keyboard, longer battery life, and an updated model that comes with a second screen.

Other rumoured features include a u-shaped clip that can double as a scroll wheel, as well as Microsoft’s patented ‘Active Stylus Motion Vector’, which promises to deliver improvements in accuracy through the utilisation of motion vectors.

The new Surface pen will likely be an optional accessory, however, Microsoft has yet to confirm any of these developments.

Chances are, the company is holding their cards close to their chest until the October event.
