EXCLUSIVE:Confirmed, Big Retailers & Carriers Dump Sony Smartphones

Sony Mobile who in the past have refused to confirm they are getting out of the smartphone business appear to have been dumped by mass retail JB Hi Fi and Harvey Norman as well as Vodafone, with both retailers and carriers no longer ranging the Japanese Companies mobile devices which earnt a reputation for poor quality.

Several months ago, ChannelNews exclusively reported that Sony’s Australian mobile operation was set to be axed due to poor sales and “questionable product quality”.

A visit to the Sony Mobile site today reveals broken links with stock not available messages appearing for several products including the Xperia XZ Premium.

The Buy Now at JB Hi Fi link which is still in the Sony site displays an ‘Oops!’ not available template.

On the Sony site Xperia models are still shown as being available at Vodafone but a search of the Vodafone site for Sony Xperia smartphones draws a blank.

Sony links to a Vodafone page have now been redirected to Apple and Samsung products.

At Harvey Norman Sony Mobile is not listed on their web site.

In the past Sony Mobile management has earn’t a reputation for being less than forthright about problems with their products.

When we exposed that Sony had a major waterproofing problem with their mobile devices their PR Company and Sony management moved to ban 4Square Media from getting press releases or reviews of their products.

This did not stop us exposing the problems with Sony products that ultimately led to consumers walking away from buying Sony Mobile devices.
