Epic Games Donates Fortnite Proceeds To Ukraine
Epic Games has announced it is donating all its Fortnite proceeds for, well, a fortnight, to humanitarian relief for people affected by the war in Ukraine.
From March 20 through April 3, all proceeds from the game will be donated to a number of organisations aided in the relief.
According to Epic Games, this includes “V-Buck packs, Fortnite Crew, gifted Battle Passes, and cosmetic packs such as the Voidlander Pack sold for real money. Retail store purchases of in-game cosmetics and V-Bucks cards will also be included if they are redeemed in-game during this window.”
Microsoft is also committing its net proceeds for Fortnite during the same window.
As of yesterday, Epic Games had raised A$48.6 million.
Given the urgency, Epic also stresses it isn’t waiting for the actual funds to come in from its platform and payment partners, which “can take a while” depending on various payment deals.
“As transactions are reported, we’ll log them and send the funds to the humanitarian relief organisations within days,” the company pledges.
