Ecovacs Expands Beyond Cleaning Robots With AI Companion LilMilo
Ecovacs is moving into the growing AI companion market with the launch of LilMilo, a robot designed to focus less on household chores and more on emotional interaction and companionship.
Unlike the company’s well-known robotic vacuum cleaners, LilMilo has been developed to simulate more natural social behaviour through voice interaction, movement and touch responsiveness.
The robot is covered in soft biomimetic fur designed to encourage physical interaction, while built-in sensors allow it to respond to sound, facial expressions and touch. Ecovacs says LilMilo can recognise voices, detect gestures and react differently depending on how users interact with it over time.
Its animated eyes and movable head are intended to create more lifelike responses, while integrated AI systems allow the robot to hold conversations, imitate familiar voices and even move rhythmically alongside music playback.

LilMilo also introduces adaptive personality features. The robot operates with five distinct personality profiles and seven emotional states that evolve based on repeated interaction. Ecovacs says the system gradually learns behavioural patterns to create more personalised responses.
The launch reflects a broader shift in the robotics industry toward AI-powered social companions, as companies increasingly explore emotional engagement alongside practical automation.
Australian availability and pricing are yet to be confirmed. Ecovacs has priced the LilMilo at US$800 (approximately A$1,220).
