Denon Release 11.2 Channel AV Receiver With Alexa, Siri

High-end home entertainment brand Denon has added a new 11.2 channel receiver with voice control to its line of home theatre receivers.

The X6500H ($5,199) joins the recently released X1600H ($$1,199) and X2600H ($1,699) in the range, which will soon include the 9.2 channel X3600H ($2,199) as well.

The new receiver is descended from Denon’s flagship X8500H receiver, which picked up the Best Home Theater Amplifier Award from the Expert Imaging and Sound Association last year.

Denon claim the X6500H will drive 11 channels up to 140 watts, with support for 8 HDMI inputs (including one on the front), 3 HDMI outputs (including one with an enhanced audio return channel, and a zone output).

There are four more digital inputs for coax and optical connections and a slew of RCA and component inputs for older devices, as well as a phono input for turntables.

Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri gives listeners voice control over music playback, and users can also stream from a device or network using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Apple Airplay 2.

Denon’s HEOS multi-room networked-audio solution gives listeners easy access to high quality streaming from platforms including Spotify, Deezer, Tidal and more.

On-board digital-to-analogue conversion supports files up to DSD 5.6MHz with support for FLAC, ALAC and WAV.

3D sound support is included through Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X, and Auro-3D with room calibration through Audyssey MultEQ XT32.

IMAX Enhanced audio processing is promised in a later firmware update.

The X6500H is available now through Denon retailers.
