Dell Refreshes XPS 13, Launches 2-In-1 Model

Dell has added two new products to its reimagined XPS portfolio, with the refresh of its iconic XPS 13, and the reveal of a 2-in-1 model.

Dell’s XPS 13 is the company’s thinnest and lightest 13-inch laptop to date, with a twelve-hour battery life that makes it the ultimate portable work machine.

It boasts 12th Generation Intel Core processors, with options on the i5 or the i7, up to 32GB of memory, and up to 1T of storage.

The Iris Xe graphics card and a 13.4-inch InfinityEdge touch display will give stunning images, with display of 500-nits, and a 2000:1 contrast ratio.

It comes fitted with Waves MaxxAudio Pro stereo speakers, a dual microphone, and two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C slots.

To get the machine so compact, the company had to move past thinner bezels, as a blog post explains.

“This time, our engineers had to rethink the architectural layout under-the-hood..

“This kickstarted a long and ambitious journey to “miniaturise” the motherboard to be 1.8x smaller than the one found in our previous XPS 13 (2021).

“In fact, it’s the smallest motherboard ever created and fitted for a Dell PC. This engineering marvel created the architectural space needed to pack in a tapestry of new technologies and enlarge the speaker enclosures. The end result is an XPS 13 that is thinner and lighter, yet better sounding, high performing and long lasting.”

The XPS 13 2-in-1 was also announced this morning, with a release on July 9.

This hybrid machine marks the first XPS device to offer 5G connectivity, and offers eSIM technology, saving you from having to swap out the sims when operating it in a different country.

The XPS 13 2-in-1 can be fitted with the magnetic XPS Folio, providing a complete laptop experience with three angle adjustments (100°, 112.5°, 125°). It also can be linked with the XPS Stylus, comfortable for both left- and right-handed users, which magnetically attaches to the top to charge, and can provide up to 50 days of run time from a full charge.

Specswise, it offers a 4K camera, 3K display resolution, and a 1080p front facing camera.

It comes with even standard WiFi 6E or 5G with WiFi 6E. The 5G models comes with a back made from Gorilla Glass 7.

XPS 13 will retail from A$1,499 from June 17, while the 2-in-1 starts at A$1,999, from July 9.
