David Jones, BP Announce Food Partnership

Australian high-end department store David Jones has inked a surprising deal with BP service stations to stock the store’s premium packaged food brands.

Ten service stations split across Sydney and Melbourne will be reconfigured to exclusively stock the David Jones food range, which features prepared meals, rotisserie chickens, and even sushi.

The David Jones Food range offers more than 300 products.

The servos will offer “grab-and-go” foods for drivers as well as meals to satisfy changing consumption and shopping habits.

David Jones, the world’s oldest continuously operating department store, is seeking to diversify amid a shaky retail environment for luxury department stores.

The luxury retailer has recently had $437 million wiped off its value, following speculation it could be sold.
