Love For Apple Fading
Last week, we reported how Apple was losing its brand loyalty in Oz in March 2013.
But new figures show it’s slipping further – loyalty has fallen another 1.5% since March 2013 to 75.2% in May, new figures from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech show.
This means three out of four iPhone owners stuck to the Apple brand when buying a new smartphone, while 24 percent ditched their iPhone – opting for a Samsung Galaxy smartphone (68%), HTC (13%) and Motorola (8.5%) smartphone – all Androids .
Although the fall is small, it shows love for the iPhone continues on a downward trend, falling 8% to 75% in March ’13, down from 83% in December ’12.
Meanwhile, Samsung loyalty has risen again – up 4% to almost 68% in May ’13.
Last week, it emerged Samsung were opening store-in-store in Dick Smith, a its global mobile ascension spreads further.
“Samsung is really succeeding in increasing its loyalty”, so store-in-store will definitely help them further along, says Tamsin Timpson, Strategic Insight Director of market researcher Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
“It opens up another avenue for Samsung.”
The Galaxy Note II maker has yet to comment on the partnership with Dick Smith.
