CES 2023: Lenovo Launch Smart Paper To Bury Kindle Scribe
Lenovo’s Smart Paper tablet is doing its best to replace your notebook and pen – and looks to be doing a fine job of it.
This newly announced e-paper tablet has a 10.3″ anti-glare touch display with a very wide aspect ratio – all wrapped up in a nice metal chassis. All up, it seems to be gunning for the Kindle Scribe – and it’s in a good position in the race.
One thing that puts it in pole position is the Smart Paper pen with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, 23-millisecond latency, and nine different pen settings you can customise.
Adding to the “paper” experience, the display has a matte coating so the surface feels a lot like you’re writing on actual paper with something that feels like a regular pen. It’s a much more natural feel than a stylus on most tablets trying to do the same thing because there’s a level of physical resistance on the tip due to the matte.
There’s also a voice recorder so you can add memos to your notes, if you were, say, in a meeting and wanted to quickly and easily say something about what you’d just jotted down.
There’s 50GB of storage to pack in all your notebooks and doodles, and you can hit E-books.com or load DRM-free books from wherever you choose to.
Because it runs on Android, you can throw any file on there to read or annotate as well.
At the end of the day, in terms of tech, Lenovo have it all over the Kindle Scribe, but the Scribe blends the appeal of e-ink tablets with the Kindle universe of content and brand recognition.
