CES 2020: Samsung Unveil Odyssey Gaming Monitor Range

At CES 2020, Samsung Electronics introduced its new Odyssey lineup of curved QLED gaming monitors, which the company says will deliver the superior performance that today’s gamers demand.

“The new Odyssey gaming monitor range breaks new ground for Samsung and represents the absolute pinnacle of our innovation for the most demanding gamers,” said Phil Gaut, director of Display & Memory at Samsung Electronics Australia.

“The new Odyssey portfolio proves that Samsung is continuing to drive innovation with industry-leading technology and design that allow gamers significantly better performance,” added Seog-gi Kim, executive vice-president of Visual Display at Samsung.

“Samsung’s new curved gaming monitor lineup has been completely redesigned to give gamers an entirely new and immersive experience.”

Comprised of the 49-inch G9 model and the G7 (available in 32 and 27 inches), the Odyssey range posseses a high-performance 1000R curvature – making them more immersive than ever.

“By enhancing the curvature of our monitor range to 1000R, Odyssey monitors will provide a huge viewing angle, which can help to minimise head and eye movement for gamers when they are in the thick of their fastest game-play,” Gaut said.

“The curve surrounds the gamer’s field of vision to help deliver more action and content from a single viewpoint.”

Immersion and speed are critical today, as gaming has become more competitive than ever, and the monitors’ gaming-focused technical innovation – such as 1ms response time and 240hz RapidCurve – takes gamers’ needs for speed, responsiveness and minimal distractions into account to equip them with the best gaming experience possible.

The Odyssey range also supports NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatibility and Adaptive Sync on DP1.4.

“The performance and deep 1000R curvature is like nothing else we have offered before and opens up a new way for gamers to immerse themselves in the action of their favourite game,” Gaut said.

“Samsung recognises the strong demand among Australian gamers for high performance products that will help enhance their game-play experience to new levels. We look forward to bringing Odyssey monitor to Australia later this year.”
