CES 2019: Lenovo Takes On Microsoft Surface Studio

Lenovo has taken on Microsoft’s Surface Studio, by unveiling its new Yoga A940 at CES 2019 for  US$1,000 less than its rival.

The new all-in-one Yoga A940 features a large pressure-sensitive touch screen, which like Microsoft’s Surface Studio caters to the design orientated, and creative professionals.

Its notable price difference (approx US$2,300 versus US$3,500) suggests the Yoga A940 is not strictly aimed at commercial usage.

Compatible with Lenovo’s Active Pen, the Yoga A940 features a 27-inch screen which can be configured to either a 4K or quad HD screen (2,560×1,440-pixel).

Some commentators have critiqued the computer’s compatibility with the first generation Active Pen (2,048 sensitivity levels), rather than Lenovo’s new Active Pen 2 (4,096 levels).

The Yoga A940 is Dolby Vision certified, and users can configure the computer as a Dolby Atmos system with suitable speakers.

Like Microsoft’s Dial, Lenovo has equipped a second-hand input device – the Precision Dial – which inputs into a USB port on either side.

The Yoga A940 will reportedly come with Precision Dial presets for Abobe Creative Cloud applications.

Addition features include a docking area to store a keyboard and mouse [when not in use], Qi-compatible wireless charging pad on the base, and bottom light for nighttime use.

Specifications include; an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 512GB SSD and 2TB HDD, and AMD Radeon RX560 graphics.

Lenovo’s Yoga A940 will ship internationally in March, with Australian pricing and availability to be confirmed.
